I’ve only mentioned this on Facebook and Instagram. About two weeks ago I decided to become a vegetarian again. Eventually I’d like to transition into being vegan. What prompted this you might ask? Recently my body has been giving me signals that are not good ones. Actually, they’re the kind that alerted me to a sickness in 2008 that took me through several “scientific experiments” before finally an 8 hour colon surgery. For years after that health trial I had committed to healthy living. I juiced a combination of fruits and vegetables everyday and did a colon cleanse once a year. However, last year, slowly I started compromising. You know, chicken just this once won’t hurt. Then you’re eating barbecue ribs (mmmm, salivating) and juicing probably once a week instead of daily. I did’t do a cleanse at all last year. Then a few months ago I began to see familiar and scary signs.
What do you do when this happens? You do what I did. Take action!
First I started juicing for breakfast every morning. I did that for a week. Then I upped the ante and juiced for breakfast, made a veggie pasta or some other veggie dish for lunch and a big salad for dinner. It is exciting! I actually look forward to coming up with new ideas for meals. I’ve even added two new boards to my Pinterest account to cater to my new lifestyle change.
Ok, so to explain the subject of this post. Today I decided to do a colon cleanse. I figured I would get rid of all the nasty build up so that my body will fit my lifestyle- Clean! Since the surgery in 2008 I’ve always done the Citrate of Magnesia cleanse. Mainly because I like fast results. You drink the solution followed by lots of water and in one day you’re clean. The healthy way, juice detox, takes a minimum of 3 days to get you clean. So you’ll have to commit to anywhere from a 7 day cleanse to a 30 day cleanse with juice detox .Also, the Citrate of Magnesia cleanse is what was recommended before surgery. I’ve used this method successfully for 3 years. Until today.
I downed the bottle of citrate of magnesia followed by a glass of water and waited. I waited for about an hour to have my body respond. How did it respond? It said NO! “No, I don’t want some slightly unpleasant tasting, chemical solution from a bottle. You’ve got me accustomed to receiving natural foods for the past few weeks so that’s what I want!” I imagined it exclaiming. It rejected the Citrate for the first time. In the past, I was juicing but still adding unhealthy meals here and there.
And that is what makes my body so smart, people! Not to mention that it tells me when things are not right and needs fixing. I totally agreed with it. This is how the problems begin. We get lazy, slack off and look for quick fixes.
A healthy lifestyle takes lots of dedication. You must be committed. Not if, but When you’re tempted to go back to the manufactured stuff, remind yourself that without this body you cannot live. The better and more you take care of it, it will also take care of you. If you’re out there and like me you love cakes, creamy foods (the dairy monster will get you), and quick fixes, HANG IN THERE! You can do it, one step at a time. I assure you the rewards are great. You will experience a stronger, more energetic, healthier you each day. However, before choosing any detox system, I recommend consulting your physician to make sure it’s safe and the right one for you.
